SUMMARY:Caln Quarterly Membership Development Session
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open for the Part 3 in the Caln Quarterly Meeting–Membership Development Series\nRegister Here: https://calnquarterlymeeting.ticketspice.com/caln-quarterly-meeting-membership-development-series-part-3\nSaturday\, September 12\, 10:00 am to 11:30 am\n\nPart 3: Friendly Fences – How Making Assumptions Prevents Us From Making New Friends\n\nPresented by Marta Rusek and Rachel Ernst Stahlhut from Friends General Conference\nWelcoming is not the work of one or two people at the door.  It takes a whole meeting to create a culture that is ready to attentively and joyfully bring newcomers into the fold of the community.  Sometimes\, however\, as a result of our assumptions and unexamined biases\, we as Quakers can unintentionally put up barriers that keep people out rather than invite people in.  We refer to these barriers as “Friendly Fences.”  In this workshop\, Marta Rusek and Rachel Ernst Stahlhut from Friends General Conference will explore the ways that Friendly Fences hinder the welcome experienced by visitors to our Quaker meetings due to race\, family structure\, age\, sexual orientation and gender identity\, disability\, political views\, and class background.  We will offer some practical resources for shifting the culture of welcoming in your meeting.\nSome of the presentation material is part of FGC’s Growing Our Meetings Toolkit which is organized around the three themes below. This part of the Caln Quarterly Meeting Membership Development Series will focus on the first of the three themes:\n\n\nIntegrating Newcomers (welcoming visitors and helping them connect with the life of the meeting)\n\n\nInreach (deepening and strengthening the spiritual life of the meeting)\n\n\nOutreach (making our presence known in the community)

SUMMARY:Giant Children’s Meeting! 4th Sundays at 9:00am
DESCRIPTION:Join Friends and Families from across the Yearly Meeting for a monthly religious education program. It’s “giant” because everyone is invited! It’s “children’s meeting” because we’re making a space to nurture the spiritual lives and Quaker identity of young people. We hope this online community will support families and the Friends offering children’s programs in their meeting; the 9:00 start is intended to allow folks to attend worship in their own meeting later that morning.\nEach 30-45 minute program will feature a theme and seasoned facilitators leading us through grounding\, exploring\, wondering\, and creating. \nSeptember 27: Celebrating New Beginnings\nOctober 25: Friends and Neighbors\nNovember 22: Gratitude and Gathering\nDecember 27: The Light in Winter\nRegister here and see the PYM event description.
