SUMMARY:Friends Folk Club Concert: Tish Hinojosa
DESCRIPTION:The Friends Folk Club is very pleased to announce a rare area appearance by Tex-Mex musician Tish Hinojosa on Friday\, October 13th. \nTish Hinojosa is a singer-songwriter from Austin\, Texas. Hinojosa’s blend of folk\, country\, Latino\, and pop has an undeniable far reaching appeal\, garnering her accolades such as a White House concert at the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton and teaming up with artists such as Joan Baez\, Booker T. Jones\, Flaco Jimenez\, Pete Seeger\, and Dwight Yoakam.\nShe has recorded as an independent artist as well as for A&M\, Warner Bros\, and Rounder Records and has been a featured artist on Austin City Limits\, A Prairie Home Companion and other NPR programs. \nWith sixteen CDs to her name \, Tish’s distinct sound has gained her much critical acclaim. Her latest CD After The Fair\, released in 2013\, was recorded in Germany and is reflective of her 9 years spent in the Beatles old stomping grounds in Hamburg. Tish has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe and continues to draw a loyal and growing audience.\nTish’s song\, Something in the Rain was included on the CD Songs for the Earth: A Tribute to Rachel Carson \nThe Oxford Friends Meeting is a century old Quaker Meetinghouse with great acoustics\, no bad seats\, and that” spiritual vibe” only a historic space provides. \nTickets are $15\, and will be available at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Refreshments are available at a reasonable price. Doors will open at 7:00 PM\, and concert will start at 7:30 PM. The Oxford Meetinghouse is located at 260 S. 3rd St\, Oxford\, PA. For more information call: 610-869-8076. Email: friendsfolkclub@aol.com orhttp://www.mundotish.com/ \nCome visit the best (and loved) little concert series in Southern Chester County for over 20 years.\nThe Friends Folk Club is an all volunteer-community run concert series. Proceeds benefit the Oxford Friends Meetinghouse \n“Her songs are richly detailed with slices of life… Hinojosa is a strong\, poetic\, sensual\, and conscious voice.”\n– SPIN MAGAZINE – \n“A talented songwriter with an understated but utterly unaffected delivery…vivid…touchin g…pointed…playful…en gaging. A rare gift for melody that’s perfect for Hinojosa’s lovely\, relaxed soprano.”\n– THE WASHINGTON POST – \n“Hinojosa is an angel in cowboy boots with one of the sweetest purest songs to be heard in quite awhile. And when she sings in Spanish\, her voice has more warmth than that of Linda Ronstadt. Tish Hinojosa delivers music like an angel.”\n-HARTFORD COURANT- \n“The cultural diversity of Texas lends itself to fascinating music\, a style characterized by the natural blending of strong American South flavors with influences from across the Mexican border. One of the finer artists to hail from that backround is Tish Hinojosa.\, who exhales earthy folk portraits as effortlessly as she moves from Spanish to English in the lyrics of her songs.” THOMAS KINTNER
