SUMMARY:Early American and Civil War Music in Oxford\, PA! @ Oxford Friends Meeting House June 6th.
DESCRIPTION:Early American and Civil War Music in Oxford\, PA! @ Oxford Friends Meeting House June 6th.\n\n\n\nThe Friends Folk Club Concert Series welcomes singer Charlie Zahm back to The Oxford Friends Meetinghouse on Friday\, June 6th 2014\, at 7:30 p.m. Charlie Zahm will be performing music from pre-Revolutionary Days through the Civil War. Not just songs of conflict\, but fun sing-able songs reflective of the periods. Tad Marks is back on fiddle.\n\n\nCome witness this wonderful performance on Friday\, June 6th at the Oxford Friends Meeting 260 S. 3rd St. Oxford\, PA. Doors open at 7:00pm and starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and Children 12 and under are free. Refreshments are available at a reasonable price. Proceeds from the evening events will benefit the George Fox Friends School. Concert will begin at 7:30 pm.\n\n\nFor more information: Call (610) 593-7122\n\n\nThe Oxford Friends Meeting is a century old Quaker Meetinghouse with great acoustics\, no bad seats\, and that “spiritual vibe” only a historic space provides.\n\n\nCharlie Zahm brings the Spirit of the American Revolution and the drama of the Age to an audience like few musicians can. Whether he is singing the glories of gallant General Washington\, an ode to the great new ideal of “Liberty\,” songs of battles won or lost\, or just popular selections of the times\, Charlie calls on a robust baritone\, mastery of guitar (and other instruments)\, and a seasoned approach to the art of “entertaining” to provide a program enjoyed by all.\n\n\nWhile Charlie is one of the most popular soloists at Celtic and maritime music events in the Eastern United States\, one of his great passions is singing about our Founding; the struggle of men and women who sacrificed all-their lives\, fortunes and sacred honor (as Jefferson wrote)-to create a sovereign new land based upon principles of law\, governance\, and freedom that had long been denied them.\n\n\nWhether singing at an outdoor festival\, a historic site (such as Philadelphia’s Independence Hall)\, a concert or convention\, Charlie demonstrates that his vocal ability is rarely matched inside or outside traditional music\, and his mastery of the guitar is the perfect complement to his vocal performance. Whether singing a great old forgotten period song\, or some rousing well-known sing-along from the Early Days of the Republic\, in shows ranging from Philadelphia’s Olde City to the giant Spectrum\, Charlie entertains with a great respect for both his audience and his chosen material.
