Friends built this meetinghouse in 1830. Parkersville Meeting was established by and for Orthodox Friends of Kennett Friends Meeting in the late 1820s. In 1827 a schism in Quakerism resulted in two main groups: Orthodox and Hicksite. Both groups worshippped at different times at Kennett Friends Meetinghouse until Orthodox Friends bought land in Parkersville and took up a subscription to built themselves a meetinghouse. There is a burial ground on the property with a number of important families in Chester County’s early history. Tour the meetinghouse and grounds before or after meeting for worship.
