Quakers and the Poor People’s Campaign

May 12, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

ZOOM WORKSHOP  – 90 minute interactive program

Providence Friends Meeting invites us to join them on Zoom tonight to learn more about Quakers and the Poor People’s Campaign.

In 2020, the Poor People’s Campaign is bringing people across the U.S. together in pursuit of racial, economic, and environmental justice; as in 1968, faith communities will play a significant role. Learn about the origins of this economic justice campaign first organized by the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and how local Quaker communities can continue to speak truth to power in partnership with the Campaign. Be sure to have a few pieces of paper and writing utensils with you, and feel free to bring a friend or family member along!

Presenters:

Sophia Burns, Stuart Fellow at AFSC, and

Laura Boyce, AFSC and member of Providence Friends Meeting
