Friends are invited to join Lancaster Meeting for their October 22 Forum program with speaker Dr. Greg Carey from Lancaster Theological Seminary. This is a hybrid event, and will be hosted at Lancaster Meeting with a Zoom link provided for online registrants. Please use the registration below to receive the Zoom link to attend online. Visitors are also welcome to join Lancaster Meeting for worship at 10:00am.
From Dr. Carey: Christian nationalism is hardly new, but it poses a particular threat to religious freedom and even to democracy in the United States today. This session will explain what Christian nationalism is, why it is dangerous, and how people of good will can respond effectively to it.
Greg Carey is Acting Associate Dean and Professor of New Testament at Lancaster Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD from Vanderbilt University and is the author or co-editor of 11 books related to biblical interpretation, most recently, Death, the End of History, and Beyond: Eschatology in the Bible and Using Our Outside Voice: Public Biblical Interpretation. Greg is an active layperson in the United Church of Christ.
