The Quaker RE Collaborative First Meeting

Four Friends with deep ties to Quaker Religious Education from four Yearly Meetings are feeling moved to invited others to join them in a Quaker religious education community of practice. We are calling it a Quaker RE Collaborative (QREC). We invite Friends who hold a sense of stewardship for the faith formation of Quaker children to join with us.
This includes: First Day School teachers, Religious Education Coordinators, RE Committee members, Quaker parents and grandparents, and others. Our welcome and our reach are broad and international in scope. QREC is open to Quakers across the traditional branches of Friends’ organizations.
Already energy is rising for a face-to-face meeting!
This first meeting will take place Sunday to Monday, August 17 to 18 at Pendle Hill in Wallingford, PA. We’ll begin at 3 pm and our program will conclude on Monday at 3 pm. Many of us remember the Religious Educators’ Institutes organized by the former RE Committee of FGC. We hope this gathering will reacquaint us with how beneficial it can be to share formally and informally with our community of practice. There will be 5 sessions with substantive presentations and discussions, and a poster session to which we hope each participant will offer a contribution. View, print and post an event flyer.
Pendle Hill will provide dinner Sunday evening, breakfast and lunch on Monday, and refreshments to sustain us as we work. Pendle Hill has 85 rooms available to us as of early June. We will draw from that reserve supply as long as it lasts. Pendle Hill has graciously made space for us, but this is not one of their programs.
Cost for participants in the QREC Meeting:
- Shared Room: $120
- Single Room: $140
- Commuter: $55
Please register by August 4th to facilitate Pendle Hill’s planning. If you wish to stay Monday night, you can register as a Sojourner with Pendle Hill directly.
