Spiritual Formation Program – 9/27

YAF Fall Retreat 10/17-19

Jobs & Internships

Greetings, Young Adult Friends & allies,

I’m just coming back in the office after spending a wonderful week with many of you at Philadelphia Yearly Meeting Annual Sessions!  Updates from business sessions are on the website, as is our Young Adult Friends epistle.  Look for photos of our program soon (YAF Bingo!  Ice cream! Picnics!), and send me pictures if you have them!

Now is the time I dive head-first into planning for the autumn.  The program planning group for the Young Adult Friends Fall Retreat met this Monday, and are cooking up some great plans for a weekend focused on healing, movement, and self-care (including yoga and field games!)  Look for a workshop proposal form and registration in the next couple weeks.

Registration for the Spiritual Formation Program is live!  The opening retreat of this seven-month intergenerational program is September 27th at Abington Friends Meeting, close to public transit.  Wondering what the Spiritual Formation Program is like for a young adult?  Read about Pamela Draper’s experience of it on the YAF blog!  (And there’s more info below – let me know if you have any questions!)

Happy end-of-July!

In the Spirit,

Elizabeth Piersol Schmidt

Philadelphia Yearly Meeting

Interested in working with Quaker kids or teens? We’re looking for Young Adult Friends (age 18-35) for the PYM Youth Program Internship.  Through the internship, young adult Friends enrich the youth programs, while deepening their own gifts.  Interns help the youth program Coordinators create the container for Quaker children & teenagers to explore their spirituality and create an inclusive, loving community.

There are intern positions working with three programs: Children’s (K-5th grade), Middle School Friends (6-8th grade), and Young Friends (9-12th grade) for at least 6 days during the year.  At the end of the program, interns receive a $500 scholarship, to be used for Quaker events or spiritual development.

More info, and the application, can be found on the Youth Programs Internship webpage.
