Greetings, Young Adult Friends & allies,
There are a multitude of jobs at Quaker organizations open right now – check them out! A few of them have application deadlines coming up soon. (And really, there are a lot – one came while I was editing this email.)
Tonight I’ll be at the Pendle Hill lecture “Are We Missing Class?” with a few other YAFs (a great follow-up to our Spring Retreat theme!) The lecture is in a series of programming on the first Monday of every month – always free and open to the public.
And finally, for YAFs who want to get more involved in the community, save the date for the next YAF Working Group Meeting – Thursday July 10th at 7:30PM.
In the Spirit,
Elizabeth Piersol Schmidt
PYM Young Adult Friends Communications Coordinator

Are We Missing Class? A Lecture by Betsy Leondar-Wright
June 2, 7:30PM
Pendle Hill Barn
38 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA
Cost: Free & open to the public
Why have we seen so few cross-class movements in the United States? One reason: we overlook class cultures. Most progressive groups face the same troubles, such as low turnout and internal conflicts. Activists of different classes tend to approach these persistent problems in different ways. Each class culture holds some keys to building stronger organizations – but many activists know little about these class culture differences.
In her new book, Missing Class: Strengthening Social Movement Groups by Seeing Class Cultures, Betsy Leondar-Wright reveals how discovering class cultures can be transformative for social justice groups. Betsy’s lively, multimedia talk gives both a big-picture view of the sorry state of class awareness on the left and a prescription for building a cross-class, multiracial movement.
