2014 William Penn Lecture
“Prophetic Service as Formation and Transformation”

The William Penn Lecture is an annual event for all Friends. It is under the care of Young Adult Friends and comes out of a history that began with the first lecture in 1916.
The doors will open at 6:30 for this event. The lecture begins at 7:00 and will be followed by a Question & Answer period and refreshments

PYM Library
The PYM Library is open every Tuesday & Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 5:00 pm; and on first Thursdays from 12:00 – 8:00 pm.
Every member of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting may be a member of the library – all you need to do is register! You may register by calling the library at 215-241-7220 or filling out an online form. Once you are registered, you may start borrowing books!
The PYM Library Catalog is available on the web at www.pym.org/library/catalogand books may be delivered and returned by mail or by Interim Meeting courier from your meeting.

Pilgrimage to England, July 14-July 20, 2014
Friends will journey to England’s “1652 Country” with two guides from PYM and a guide from Britain Yearly Meeting to experience the roots of the Religious Society of Friends. The 7-day pilgrimage trip for up to 27 “pilgrims” includes travel to more than a dozen historic sites. Interested Friends must apply; see website for details.

In frequent gatherings and enrichment programs, interpreters have the opportunity to interact with fellow volunteers who have in common a passion for sharing Quakerism with others. Junior Interim Meeting, Everyone is Invited! Saturday, March 8, 2014,
10 am – 2:00 pm, Historic Fair Hill Burial Ground. Junior Interim Meeting invites all members of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of ANY AGE to help directly support the Children’s Priority by joining us for a very special Junior Interim Meeting. Everyone can follow the ministry of the Children’s Priority by offering their service to care for the environment of Fair Hill, a historic Quaker burial ground, garden, and urban green space. Bring your committee, bring your meeting, bring your friends. Young Adult Friends Mentorship Project: “Friends Sharing Their Individual Gifts”. Saturday, March 29, 2014, 4-5:30 pm, Arch Street Meeting House.
Each of us have gifts and needs. Over time, as we come into an awareness of these gifts and needs, we often wish for and seek communion and connection with others about our experiences. The PYM YAF community feels called to work with F/friends in the wider Yearly Meeting to help create a loving and helpful inter-generational mentoring network. If you are looking for a way to connect with others and have ideas about how we may build an interactive network for mentoring, please join us for a fun 90 minute interactive workshop to explore the types of gifts that Friends may share with each other! Come early to the William Penn Lecture, share with our group and then have plenty of time for dinner before the lecture at 7:00 pm. Growth Dilemma Project Open Discussion & Support Group, Tuesday, April 1, 6:30 pm, Friends Center, Philadelphia, PA. Join members of the Growth Dilemma Project (part of the PYM Ecojustice Working Group) as we to continue to learn about the intersection of economy and ecology, and consider how we can respond in our individual lives, our meetings, and the wider community. Each evening starts with 30 minutes of worship, followed by a brief presentation or discussion of new information, and progress updates from participants on the development of their individual or small group projects. Yellow Fever in Philadelphia-1793, Arch Street Brown Bag Lecture Series.April 29, 11:45 am – 1 pm, Arch Street Meeting House. Licensed Mental Health Providers
The Friends Counseling Service, a program of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, is looking for licensed mental health providers who are Quakers and active in their monthly meetings, to join the service. We need counselors in Upper Bucks County, Salem, Caln and Upper Susquehanna Quarters.
The FCS provides mental health counseling to members and attenders of friends meetings. The service is provided on a sliding scale for those with limited income. Interested applicants should have their own office space and malpractice insurance coverage and have been in practice for a minimum of 3 years.
