Dear Zac,
Greetings!
Transformation and growth are unfolding processes. We grow in the spirit when we are known and our gifts are nurtured. Pastoral Care Committees that take a Spirit-Led approach to affirming and nurturing gifts of members foster creativity and build community. This issue of the Pastoral Care Threadletter focuses on how to nurture and receive the gifts of the Spirit among us.
Peace is with you,
George Schaefer
Care and Aging Coordinator

Nurturing Gifts, Knowing Lives!
Members of Care and Oversight Committees need to offer to Friends the gift of being known. When Friends and their spiritual journeys are known, most people are willing to engage in and serve the life of the meeting. This is a powerful way of providing support and eldering.

Spirit-Led Process to Connect Gifts & Service
Strawberry Creek Meeting in Berkeley, CA, has developed a Spirit-Led process for nominations which starts from a sense of abundance; raising up the gifts of members rather than focusing on the scarcity of those willing to serve.

Nurturing the Meeting Community
Most often when we think of pastoral care within our meetings, we think of those times of special need or transition when we have offered the support of the meeting to an individual, couple or family. This issue of PNC calls attention to the need for pastoral care to the meeting-as-a-whole. Download Nurturing the Meeting Community.
