Thanks to everyone who made the Young Friends Spring gathering so wonderful! Speaking of the next gathering… Registration is open!! Thanks to those of you who have already registered! As always, you can keep reading for registration and information about the gathering, as well as highlights of breaking news in the Young Friends community (like the Opportunity for Reconciliation with Education Standing Committee) and several upcoming opportunities (like the Quaker College Fair, Friends General Conference Gathering and summer trips) of interest to the Young Friends community.

Come create fun and vibrant community with other high-school-aged Friends at Camp Swatara! Young Friends and Middle School Friends from around the yearly meeting will be joining Caln Quarterly Meeting’s family weekend for workshops, activities and time in the woods with Friends.

Young Friends – Education Standing Committee Reconciliation Opportunity

Last summer, the Education Standing committee approved a policy titled “Supporting Transgender Youth Participants in Young Friends.”

Discerning Liaisons to the Wider PYM Community
The Young Friends Discernment Committee has brought forward two names to the Young Friends community as nominees for a shared PYM Liaison position. Read more!
Friends General Conference – High School Program
The FGC Gathering brings Quakers from across North America together for a week of vibrant community and activities. High schoolers are housed together and create their own self-governing community (with a little help from their adult f/Friends). The program includes workshops, worship, support groups, an afternoon out-trip, interest groups and a final celebration. Check out more information and get registered!
Quaker College Fair

The Quaker College Fair is taking place May 17th from 12pm to 3pm at Arch Street Meeting House. The Quaker College Fair invites high schoolers and their families to find out about the many benefits of a Friends’ higher education. This event will give you access to experts on the application process, gap years, housing and financial aid, with fourteen historically Quaker institutions in attendance – all in only three hours! Youth Programs Internship
Interested in working with younger PYM programs, or know a young adult you want to get involved as a FAP for Young Friends? Check out the Youth Programs Internship, wherein interns are placed with the Children’s, Middle School Friends, or Young Friends program as a regular FAP and receive $500 towards their participation in Quaker events or educational experiences. Mexico Environmental Service and Leadership Trip with Westtown
Westtown School is offering its annual environmental service leadership program in Mexico during the summer of 2014 and still has some openings! In recent years, this trip has generated a rich exchange of ideas among students from Sidwell, Wilmington, Westtown and Oakwood Friends Schools, Haverford, Guilford and Dickinson colleges – and others! The experience has led many students to discover a new and enduring sense of calling. Check out the application and download a flyer to share!
